Because Avigen's technology platform relies on a virus-based gene delivery system, separation and containment were key goals. In response, VDK Architects paid careful attention to personnel flow and in-process product flow. The design incorporates a "gray space" for clean utilities above the manufacturing area, allowing efficient operation and maintenance.
