  Gilead B346 Virology Laboratory Building
Foster City, California

Gilead is a leader in the development of small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of infectious diseases. One of the company's earliest laboratory facilities, Building 346, was aging and could no longer keep up with changing technology. Complete demolition and rebuilding of the interior proved the best solution.

Construction was staged in several phases to minimize impact on surrounding functions. The 20,000 sf facility includes four eight-person virology lab suites and two BL-2+ containment labs for specialized cell culture work.
