Gilead Sciences is a leader in the development of small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of infectious diseases. To further their continued growth and success, Gilead built a larger-scale pilot plant facility at their headquarter campus in Foster City. Locating it adjacent to Gilead R&D scientists will facilitate rapid scale-up of new treatment initiatives and manufacturing processes.

This 35,000 sf renovation houses a GMP-compliant pilot-scale manufacturing plant, process development and analytical laboratories, lab support, conference rooms, and offices. A structurally-isolated steel platform houses rooftop equipment while increasing the seismic strength of the building, exceeding building code requirements. The B-occupancy building includes nearly 3,500 sf of H-occupancy space for the pilot plant areas. These employ spill control, fire-water containment, and state-of-the-art process, fire, and spill alarm systems.
