Hildebrand Hall / Stanley Surge, MCB Lab Renovation
University of California, Berkeley

Berkeley, California

This 2-phase laboratory renovation project consists of two full floors of Hildebrand Hall, a 1960’s vintage post-tensioned concrete building built for the College of Chemistry. The renovation provides critical surge space for the Molecular & Cell Biology Department during the construction of a new Stanley Hall.

VDK Architects provided full design and construction administration services along with coordination with the seismic retrofit design team. Ongoing requirements for occupied areas throughout the building were maintained during construction.

Functions provided include wet labs, cold rooms, support spaces, administrative offices, conference facilities, and computer work areas.
