This laboratory expansion project for the College of Natural Resources removes an existing 1960's penthouse and replaces it with a new 8,500 sf rooftop addition. The new addition includes wet laboratories for research, separate tissue culture and equipment rooms, and conference and support spaces for faculty and students. The expansion requires installation of an elevator to integrate it into the building as a whole.

The Morgan Hall rooftop lab addition is envisioned as a modern, light-weight, finely-tuned element contrasting with the existing, four-story concrete structure that it sits on. Considerations of structural impact and architectural context guide the design. Construction is anticipated for 2005.
