Master Planning
Planning for the phased development of sites, buildings and infrastructure allows for the smart integration of facilities to meet new demands. The successful integration of new facilities should be accomplished in such a way as to reduce risk, optimize resources, maintain critical operations, complete work in a timely fashion and accurately predict capital expenditures.
Programming
Defining the need before you begin design is critical to the success of every project. Depending on the complexity of the project, the space program can range from a simple list of required spaces to a comprehensive study that projects growth out over a period of time. Successful programs will forecast employee headcount growth, space needs, group adjacencies, and emerging R&D trends.
Basis of Design
Formulation of a Basis of Design (BOD) is a critical step in proving a project’s viability. Completed prior to the initiation of detailed design, a typical BOD will describe the business drivers for the project along with a definition of the size and scope of the project, phasing alternatives, planning issues, building code impacts and estimated project costs.
Laboratory Planning
We offer this service directly to clients and to other architectural firms. The lab planning process begins with the development of detailed program requirements based on lab user input and our own database of lab projects. We take the lead in the development of detailed lab equipment schedules including all utility requirements necessary for the sizing of the utility systems. Utilizing 2D and 3D Cad programs, we develop detailed lab layout drawings-- incorporating all lab casework, hoods and equipment—for review by the lab users and eventual incorporation into the contract documents.
Interior Design
Besides functionality, flexibility, and adherence to schedule and budget, some projects have an added metric for the measurement of success. For these projects, the finished space should provide a visually engaging environment to promote productivity and interaction for the occupants. Our Interior Design Services include space planning and the design of interior finishes and furnishing to meet the specific needs of the client. We take into consideration the use of each space when designing the lighting and acoustic needs, and have experience incorporating communications and audio/visual technology. We stay abreast of the current trends in furnishings, finishes and technology and make design decisions taking into consideration the latest advances in sustainable products. Our Interior Design experience includes office tenant improvements for life sciences, technology and commercial sectors.
